Returns a Type that represents the data type of the specified column.

Parameters

• ordinal
  Type: System.Int32
  The zero-based ordinal position of the column to find.

Return Value

Type: System.Type
A Type that contains the type of the Object returned by the GetValue method.

Remarks

This information may be used to increase performance by indicating the strongly typed accessor to call.

If the data contained in the column changes from row to row, the type returned will be Object.
